Election Commission of Pakistan
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is an independent and autonomous constitutional body responsible for organizing and conducting free, fair, and transparent elections in Pakistan. The ECP was established under the Constitution of Pakistan in 1956, following the first general elections held in the country in 1955. Initially, the ECP was composed of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and four members appointed by the President of Pakistan. However, after the promulgation of the Constitution of 1973, the ECP was reconstituted as a permanent and independent constitutional body.
